  • Facebook Page207 / 63,206 chars
  • LinkedIn profile207 / 3,000 chars
  • YouTube description208 / 5,000 bytes

YouTube counts bytes, so emoji and accented letters use more than one.

Caption limits by platform

  • Instagram: 2,200 characters, up to 30 hashtags and 20 @mentions per post. Go over and Instagram rejects the post.
  • LinkedIn: 3,000 characters per post.
  • Facebook Pages: 63,206 characters, so length is rarely the problem.
  • YouTube: titles are capped at 100 characters and descriptions at 5,000 bytes. Bytes, not characters: an emoji or an accented letter takes two to four bytes.

Why counts differ between tools

Some counters count UTF-16 code units, which makes many emoji count as two. This checker counts characters the way the platforms do, and counts YouTube descriptions in bytes as YouTube does.

Writing for all four at once? PostOneGo runs these checks in the composer and lets you adjust the caption per platform before you schedule.
